University community remembers KFRTI employee Larry Pander
LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas community is remembering Kansas Fire and Rescue Training Institute educator Larry Pander, who died Feb. 26 in Garden City. He was 68.
After a long career of firefighting with the Houston Fire Department and time spent teaching at Garden City Community College, Pander joined KU’s Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute as a fire service trainer in January 2023. In his career, Pander also served as a Kansas Fire Service Training Commission member from 2009-2019 and as chairman from 2013-2019.
Services were March 2 in Garden City.
