CLACS welcomes head consul of Mexico in KC


LAWRENCE —The University of Kansas Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies will host the head consul of Mexico in Kansas City, Alfonso Navarro-Bernachi, as he presents on “Elections in Mexico 2018.”  

The event will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, March 5, in the Centennial Room of the Kansas Union.

Navarro-Bernachi is a career member of the Mexican Foreign Service since 1993. He has taken part in official commissions in Canada, Spain, El Salvador, Honduras and the Pacific Alliance and has published articles on consular diplomacy, communication and foreign policy.

On July 1, Mexico will hold the largest general election in its history. Navarro-Bernachi’s presentation will address the organizational challenges of this process, how the elections are staffed, how the votes are counted and how the results are provided.
