KU Pharmacy announces inaugural Haslam lecture series

LAWRENCE — The inaugural John Haslam Special Topics in Formulation Lecture Series will feature Greg Amidon, a longtime researcher and drug developer in the pharmaceutical industry. The series will take place May 24-26 at the Simons Biosciences Research Laboratories auditorium in the University of Kansas West District.

Amidon, retired faculty member at the University of Michigan and fellow and former president of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, will give a series of lectures over three days on “Pharmaceutical Materials Science: Application to the Development of Pharmaceutical Solids.” A complete schedule, additional information and registration is available. Course credit is also available.

The Haslam Special Topics in Formulation Series is hosted by the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the KU School of Pharmacy with support from KU Endowment’s John L. Haslam Fund for Formulation Education and Research on Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Haslam is a former faculty member and researcher in the pharmacy school. He spent more than 54 years in pharmaceutical sciences on the KU campus and in businesses derived from KU research. Haslam was still engaged in research when he died July 8, 2022, at age 83.

There is no charge to attend the Haslam Special Topics in Formulation Series, but a $250 donation to the Haslam Fund for Formulation Education and Research on Pharmaceutical Chemistry is suggested and appreciated.
