Visiting expert will discuss college graduate recruiting trends

LAWRENCE — The University Career Center is partnering with The Chamber of Lawrence, Kansas, and the Economic Development Corporation of Lawrence & Douglas County to host a free virtual event on college graduate recruiting trends.

The event, set for 9-11 a.m. Nov. 16, will feature Phil Gardner, executive director of the Collegiate Employment Research Institute at Michigan State University and editor of MSU’s college labor market study. The 2021-2022 report was released last month. During the virtual presentation, Gardner will discuss hiring trends among recent college graduates, trends by sectors and location, salaries for entry-level hires and events that affect college student hiring. Gardner will take questions upon the completion of his presentation.

“It is a pleasure to have Dr. Gardner share his expertise with us,” said David Gaston, assistant vice provost for academic success at the University of Kansas. “For more than 30 years, he has studied transition from college to work, career progression and workforce readiness.”

The event is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. Confirmation details, including how to access the event, will be provided upon receipt of the registration form. A recording of the event will not be available. For more information, contact Elise Patrick with KU’s Office of Career and Experiential Learning at epatrick@ku.edu.
