Four provost finalists to make campus visits

LAWRENCE — Four candidates for the position of provost and executive vice chancellor of the Lawrence campus are scheduled to visit the University of Kansas in late October and early November.

Names and other details about the candidates will be announced approximately 48 hours before their visits. Each candidate will deliver a public presentation followed by a reception.

The candidates’ public presentations will be streamed live online at the search webpage. An archived video of the presentations will also be available at the same website after each presentation.

Chancellor Douglas A. Girod established a search committee in May to lead the university’s efforts to identify a new provost. Michelle Mohr Carney, dean of the School of Social Welfare, and Steven Soper, Foundation Distinguished Professor of chemistry and mechanical engineering, have served as co-chairs of the committee. The executive search firm R. William Funk and Associates assisted the committee.

These visits provide an important opportunity for members of the university community to provide input on the selection process. Faculty, staff and students with a KU login will be able to fill out an online evaluation form for each candidate to provide feedback to the search committee.
