LAWRENCE — Lawrence residents and employees of the University of Kansas should avoid areas near KU residence halls on Thursday, Aug. 16, which is the primary move-in day for student housing residents.

Intersections that are expected to be congested include the following:

  • Nineteenth Street and Ousdahl Road, near Oliver and Downs Halls.
  • Eleventh and Louisiana streets, location of Corbin and Gertrude Sellards Pearson residence halls
  • Two intersections that involve Daisy Hill residence halls, including 15th and Iowa streets, and the KU Park & Ride lot entrance at Clinton Parkway and Crestline Drive.

Those who work in KU’s West District should be able to park in or near their regular parking lots. The Irving Hill Road bridge (over Iowa Street) will be a one-way, eastbound road for move-in traffic only on move-in day. If you have questions about available parking or routes on that day, call KU Parking and Transit, 785-864-PARK (7275).

All incoming KU Student Housing residents received a map and these instructions about move-in day.

For media:
Media are welcome to attend the event, but news vehicles will not be allowed to cross Irving Hill Bridge and enter the line of cars going to Daisy Hill.
