Information for news media covering April 20 installation of KU Chancellor Douglas A. Girod

LAWRENCE — Members of the news media will have reserved seating for the April 20 installation ceremony for University of Kansas Chancellor Douglas A. Girod. Media members, RSVP to ebp@ku.edu by noon Thursday, April 19. 

Girod’s installation will be at 2 p.m. in the Lied Center auditorium. Parking is available in the Lied Center lot, and no media permit is needed. Members of the media can check in at a marked table in the Kemper Lobby.

Reserved space for media members is inside Door 9 of the auditorium. Seating for reporters is in Row M. Standing room for photographers and videographers, as well as an audio feed, are in Row N. Click to see a seating diagram.

Roaming is not allowed during the event. KU will have photos from different angles available to media later in the afternoon.

In May 2017, the Kansas Board of Regents named Girod the 18th chancellor of the university. The April 20 installation ceremony is part of two weeks of inauguration activities that include community service opportunities, social activities, music concerts, building dedications, a formal ball and a TED Talk-style research symposium.
