Resources available for undocumented students

LAWRENCE — Universities across the country are addressing questions about the status of students who are undocumented and those covered under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Last week, more than 400 college and university presidents and chancellors from across the country, including Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little, signed a letter supporting these students and programs.

Although KU does not have a centralized resource for undocumented and DACA students, several university offices have resources available to them.

The Office of Multicultural Affairs can help provide referrals to other sources, and the Sabatini Multicultural Resource Center serves as a space for students to gather and be in community. Students may contact Mauricio Gomez Montoya, associate director for academic enrichment programs, by calling 864-4350, or by email at MauricioGomez@ku.edu.

Questions about financial aid may be addressed to the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships by calling 864-4700.

Students may also make an appointment with Legal Services for Students by calling 864-5665 or visiting the office in 212 Green Hall. The office does not provide legal advice over the telephone or through email.

Students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences may contact Cody Case in the college’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion with questions by phone at 864-3661 or by email at codycase@ku.edu
