Media expert available to discuss Al Jazeera America


LAWRENCE – University of Kansas Professor of Journalism Emeritus Malcolm Gibson is available to speak about the launch of Al Jazeera America. The Qatar-based news organization bought Current TV and re-launched the network as its American affiliate today.

Malcolm Gibson, longtime journalism professor and former adviser to KU’s student-run newspaper, the University Daily Kansan, has hosted employees of Al Jazeera as guests in his international journalism classes and has educated several students who have gone on to work in a variety of roles at the organization. Gibson has consulted with Al Jazeera management to establish an internship program for KU journalism students and has also spoken in defense of Al Jazeera as a news agency.
