University mourns longtime employee Jim Busse

LAWRENCE – University of Kansas Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little and Bala Subramaniam, director of the Center for Environmentally Beneficial Catalysis, issued the following statements on the death of employee James E. Busse:

Gray-Little: “It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to a longtime member of the KU family. We value Jim Busse’s dedication to the university and send our thoughts and prayers to his wife, Megan Gannon; family and friends.”

Subramaniam: "Jim Busse was first and foremost an outstanding gentleman. Jim has made valuable contributions to the CEBC, and he will be greatly missed by all CEBC staff and researchers, present and past."

Busse, 66, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he had been transported for emergency treatment of a previously undetected medical condition.

He worked at KU and KUCR continuously for the past 34 years in graphic-photographic positions and other roles, and had prior service as well, beginning as a high school student. He was currently a research graphics technician/proposal specialist in the Center for Environmentally Beneficial Catalysis.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
