MEDIA ADVISORY: KU professors available to speak about Boeing and the Wichita economy
Two University of Kansas professors are available to speak with media about Boeing’s decision to close its Wichita facility:
• Donna Ginther, professor of economics and director of the Center for Economic and Business Analysis at the Institute for Policy and Social Research at KU
• Charles Krider, professor of business in the KU School of Business.
Ginther’s major fields of study are scientific labor markets, gender differences in employment outcomes, wage inequality, scientific entrepreneurship and children’s educational attainments. Read more about Ginther here.
Krider’s major fields of study include economics and human resources. His teaching interests include human resource management, labor relations, employment law and macroeconomics. Earlier today, Boeing announced it will close its Wichita facility, which employs about 2,100 people. Boeing officials cited a number of issues, including defense budget cuts, product and service contracts that have matured and expired, and limited prospects for future work.
