LAWRENCE – Visual art graduate students will exhibit their works in a two-part show starting Saturday, Sept. 21, at the University of Kansas. Part I will be on display Sept. 21 through Oct. 3 and Part II following from Oct. 5-17. The exhibitions are free, and the public is welcome.

The graduate exhibitions create an opportunity for all graduate students in visual art to show their work. The pieces will be on display in the gallery on the third floor of the Art and Design Building.

“These exhibitions celebrate the diverse talents, voices and artistic directions exemplified by this gifted group of art students,” said Norman Akers, associate professor and director of graduate studies in visual art. “For the public, it is a marvelous opportunity to gain a ‘sneak preview’ into the next generation of groundbreaking talent.”

The exhibitions will have a joint reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 5, on the third floor. A range of disciplines will be represented, including ceramics, drawing, expanded media, jewelry/metalsmithing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and textiles.

The Art and Design Building is at the northeast corner of 15th Street and Naismith Drive. Visitor parking is available at the Allen Fieldhouse Parking Garage, 1501 Irving Hill Road.
