State of the College returns for second year

LAWRENCE – The dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences will share updates on the direction of the largest academic unit at the University of Kansas at the second annual State of the College.

Dean Carl Lejuez will focus his remarks this year on the new strategic plan for the College. The plan lays out actions aimed at student success and opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, scholarly and pedagogic support for faculty, professional development for staff and strategic growth for the College as a whole. The event is an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to learn about progress and initiatives from the dean.

It also offers a forum for feedback, with the majority of time reserved for Q&A with attendees.

“Our first State of the College was an incredible experience to discuss the challenges and opportunities I had begun to observe at the start of my administration. It also offered a great opportunity for me to hear from our faculty, staff and students about the issues that are of most concern to them,” Lejuez said. “The feedback I gained through that event and received throughout the past year has played a significant part in determining our strategy to address challenges and leverage our strengths. I look forward to learning more in our second State of the College.”

The State of the College is open to the public. It will take place at 4 p.m. Sept. 19 at The Commons. The event will be recorded and available for viewing following the event.

The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences is the heart of KU. As the broadest, most diverse academic unit at KU, it is home to more than 50 departments, programs and centers, as well as the School of the Arts, School of Literatures, Languages & Cultures and School of Public Affairs & Administration.
