School of Education continues free professional development series in KC

OVERLAND PARK — The School of Education at the University of Kansas will continue the 2016-2017 Strategies Event Series at the Edwards Campus. 

The second session of the series, “It's Never Too Early: Preparing K-12 Students for College,” will feature Lisa Wolf-Wendel, associate dean of research and graduate studies at the School of Education and professor in the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies.

The presentation will provide information to teachers, educators and other service providers on how best to prepare K-12 students for postsecondary education. Participants will also discuss how teachers can influence predisposition for postsecondary education, college aspirations, the college search process, as well as college choice.

Wolf-Wendel’s session will take place at 9 a.m. Feb. 25, Room 120 of the BEST Building at the Edwards Campus. The session is free and open to the public, though an RSVP is required.

The third and final session of the series will take place at 9 a.m. April 22. Reva Friedman from the Department of Curriculum & Teaching will present “Helping Students Succeed: Mindset Makes the Difference” as an interactive session for current PK-12 educators.
