LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas community is mourning the Dec. 6 death of KU Public Safety’s Robert J. “Bobby” Williams Jr.
“I am deeply saddened at the passing of Deputy Chief Williams,” said Chancellor Douglas A. Girod. “Throughout his 28 years of service to KU, many colleagues and friends both on campus and in the broader community appreciated his hard work and dedication, and we all will miss him. On behalf of the entire university, I express my sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and all who knew him at KU.”
Most recently, Williams served KU Public Safety as the head of the police patrol unit.
“His contributions to the university were many, and he will be greatly missed,” said Chief Chris Keary.
Services are pending and will be announced by Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence.
