New spaces, schedules debut as fall semester begins

Wed, 09/11/2019

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas Libraries are offering updated location schedules and renovated spaces for students, faculty and staff across campus.

The Spahr Engineering Library’s hours of operation will now align with the location schedules of the Murphy Art & Architecture Library and the Gorton Music & Dance Library. Hours for all KU Libraries locations are available at lib.ku.edu/locations-hours

The fourth floor of Watson Library experienced several upgrades over the summer. The graduate student space has been refurbished with new conversational areas and furniture. On the same floor, a modernized quiet study space with increased lighting and seating options is now available for users.

In an effort to continue improving library spaces, renovations are underway for the study carrels on Watson’s fourth floor in the west wing stacks. This effort is currently in the design and development stage, with a targeted completion date of December 2019. The carrels on Watson’s third-floor west wing were renovated in 2017 through a partnership with students from the School of Architecture & Design.

The Digital Humanities Studio has moved to 302 Watson Library. The studio may be used for events and activities such as seminars, workshops, hackathons, data sharing and digital lab components of courses. The space is open to digital humanities scholars and all library users.
