LAWRENCE — Communications professionals brought prestige to the University of Kansas with 13 awards for work on videos, social media and other projects that showcase the best of the state’s flagship university.

KU brought home four gold and nine silver awards from the Greater Kansas City Public Relations Society of America chapter’s 2014 PRISM Awards. The university’s competition included professionals from firms such as FleishmanHillard and Ketchum.

“Finding things that make KU look good is the easy part,” said Tim Caboni, vice chancellor for public affairs. “Where the university’s professionals stand out among others in their field is how they tell our story in a way that elevates KU’s profile on a national scale. Their work reflects and shapes what we aspire to be.”

The recognized projects included a television commercial about how half of all doctors in Kansas are Jayhawks, the #exploreKU social media campaign and the dean’s annual report for the School of Business.

“It is truly an honor to be celebrated by the Greater Kansas City PRSA community for our efforts,” said Neeli Bendapudi. “We’re particularly proud of the team effort behind our new building groundbreaking ceremony, which allowed us to collaborate with many units across the university to create a lasting moment for our alumni and donors."

KU earned gold awards for: the campaign to expand the School of Medicine, the “Half of all doctors in Kansas are Jayhawks” TV ad, a video detailing KU Medical Center research into repairing damaged brain pathways, and an op-ed from Edwards Campus Vice Chancellor David Cook.
