KU leadership selects university registrar

Tiffany Robinson was selected to be KU's 11th university registrar.LAWRENCE — After an extensive national search, Matt Melvin, vice provost for enrollment management at the University of Kansas, has announced the appointment of Tiffany Robinson as the new assistant vice provost/university registrar.

Robinson, currently university registrar at Western Kentucky University, will begin her new responsibilities July 2.

As director of the Office of University Registrar, Robinson will be ultimately responsible for a variety of duties including course registration, recording grades, certifying student enrollment status, verifying honors and degree fulfillment, managing student records, scheduling courses, updating the course catalog and transcript production. She will be the 11th registrar in KU’s history.

“Tiffany Robinson is a seasoned registrar, and her experience will greatly benefit KU as we continue to formulate and refine strategies designed to develop KU’s enrollment future,” said Matt Melvin, vice provost for enrollment management.

Robinson has been registrar at Western Kentucky since August 2014. In that capacity, she ensured compliance with required federal, state and university policies related to the mission and responsibilities of the office; administered and oversaw the department’s budget and commencement budget; and served as compliance officer for the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Prior to joining WKU, she held a number of positions, including leadership roles, at Southern Illinois University. She was director of the Registrar’s Office at SIU from August 2010 to June 2014 and served as acting director from February 2009 to August 2010. She also has several years of experience in academic advising at SIU.

She has been involved in multiple professional organizations, including the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and the Kentucky Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. From 2008 to 2014 she participated in the Student Eligibility and Compliance arm of the NCAA. She was a member of AACRAO’s Black Caucus from 2008 to 2017 and served as its chair from 2015 to 2017. In 2017 she was elected by the AACRAO membership to the Board of Directors as the vice president for access and equity. Robinson will complete her term on the board in 2020. She is a current member of the North American Association of Commencement Officers and the National Association of College and University Business Officers.

At Western Kentucky, Robinson has been active in a variety of committees and leadership roles, including the President’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, the Retention Task Force, the Graduate Council, the University Curriculum Committee, the Lavender Graduation Ceremony Committee, which she also chairs, and much more.

Robinson earned a master’s degree in workforce education and development and a bachelor’s degree in advanced technical studies, both from Southern Illinois University.

Melvin thanked those who helped in the selection process.
