LAWRENCE – The University of Kansas will host the inaugural historical conference between KU and Kansas State University history graduate student organizations. The conference, called Intersections, will take place April 25-26 on the KU Lawrence campus.

Conference organizers invite paper proposals with a historical aspect from scholars in any field or discipline. To be considered for graduate or undergraduate paper awards, full-length, revised conference papers must be received by Saturday, March 15. For more information and submission guidelines, visit the Intersections website.

“We seek to establish a recurring, interdisciplinary conference, which showcases the breadth, quality and diversity of historical scholarship being conducted in the state of Kansas and across the Midwest region,” said Amber Roberts, chair of the organizing committee and doctoral candidate in history.

The conference will include a keynote address by distinguished scholar Bill Tuttle, KU professor emeritus of American studies, history and African and African-American studies, whose work has extensively influenced the discipline. His lecture, sponsored by the Watkins Museum of History, will open the conference on Friday, April 25.

The Department History is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, which encourages learning without boundaries in its more than 50 departments, programs and centers. Through innovative research and teaching, the College emphasizes interdisciplinary education, global awareness and experiential learning. The College is KU's broadest, most diverse academic unit.
