LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas community is mourning the death of Ann Lindbloom, an instructional designer for the KU Center for Online & Distance Learning. She died March 15.

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of Ann Lindbloom, a dedicated member of our staff with a passion for helping Jayhawks teach and learn online," said Chancellor Douglas A. Girod. “On behalf of the entire university, I express my sincere condolences to her family, friends and her colleagues at KU.”

Lindbloom worked at the university for nearly eight years. She came to KU in 2013, working in various roles in Information Technology that included supporting and training Jayhawks on Blackboard and other teaching and learning tools. She joined the Center for Online & Distance Learning in 2016, where her vast experience with Blackboard and as a lead writer for Higher Learning Commission Online Accreditation questions provided a foundation in pedagogy and technology.

“Ann was a talented instructional designer who loved to engage in conversation about pairing pedagogy with the intentional use of educational technology,” said Laura Diede, director for the Center for Online & Distance Learning.

With a background and interest in psychology, Lindbloom sought to build personal relationships with colleagues, Diede said.

“She believed understanding her partners’ perspectives was helpful when collaborating,” Diede said. “Ann was a nurturer who promoted diverse thinking and encouraged everyone to love others as they are. She was a friend to all, and we all miss her.”

A remembrance event for Lindbloom will be from 2-4 p.m. March 28 at the Burlingame Schuyler Community Center, 117 S. Dacotah, in Burlingame.
