Transportation Services employee honored by national organization

LAWRENCE — Dave Moore, assistant director for field operations at KU Transportation Services, was recently awarded the 2019 Pyramid of Success award at the College Parking & Transportation Association (CPTA) conference in Columbia, Missouri.

“Dave’s knowledge and expertise with parking-related logistics is invaluable for our office,” said Aaron Quisenberry, associate director for Transportation Services at the University of Kansas. “He is well-respected on the KU campus and by his peers within CPTA, who selected him for this award. In recognition for his service to CPTA, Dave is very deserving of this honor.”

The Pyramid of Success award is given to a member of the association who has significantly influenced the development and growth of the organization, willingly shared their knowledge and insight about parking issues with others, contributed to the networking efforts of this organization, and gone above and beyond to ensure that the CPTA remains a viable and successful organization. Recipients are selected by a review committee composed of past award recipients. Moore said he felt especially honored because those past award recipients have been longtime members with decades of service.

Moore’s nomination came from Madison Huemmer, executive vice president of sales and marketing at iParq, one of the vendor members of the organization, and had multiple letters of support.

“From day one of meeting him, I could tell he was an integral part of the CPTA community,” Huemmer wrote. “Dave Moore's attitude toward life and work is always positive. He is always willing to help. He pushes without being pushy. He advises without being overbearing. He is inclusive, kind, knowledgeable.”

At the same conference, Moore was also elected president of the CPTA board for a three-year term. Moore has served on the board since 2015 and been an active member of the organization (formerly known as the Midwest Campus Parking Association) since 2005.

Moore has worked at Transportation Services for the past 14 years, where he oversees all field operations and event management. He works with contractors, vendors, KU Athletics, Facilities Services and Public Safety staff, and he supervises seven full-time staff members to fulfill the mission of the Transportation Services office and the university.
