“Congresswoman Davids’ victory as a Democrat in the historically Republican 3rd District was one of the most compelling political stories in Kansas last year,” Director Bill Lacy said. “As a lawyer, leader and one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress, she is emblematic of the public servants this lecture series strives to recognize. We hope our students and guests find her visit to be both enlightening and inspiring.”

Davids serves Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District and was sworn into the 116th Congress in January 2019. A graduate of Johnson County Community College, the University of Missouri at Kansas City and Cornell Law School, she serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure and Small Business committees. Her career has focused on economic and community development and included time as a White House Fellow.

The Elizabeth Dole Women in Leadership Lecture features women who break barriers, make significant contributions to their fields and reach positions of leadership. Launched in 2017, it features guest speakers who are leaders who exemplify perseverance, motivation, innovative thinking and the ability to overcome challenges. The signature series is named for former U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole in honor of her long career in public service.
