'Hawks & Highways' returns with KU events in communities statewide
LAWRENCE — For the second consecutive year, the University of Kansas Alumni Association and Kansas Athletics will host “Hawks & Highways” events in communities throughout Kansas, part of a multiyear effort guided by Chancellor Douglas A. Girod to expand and strengthen outreach across the state. The series will begin with nine events in May and June.
Details for all events in the ongoing series can be found at kualumni.org/highways.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the loyalty and support of KU alumni, friends and fans throughout the state of Kansas,” said Heath Peterson, KU Alumni Association president, “and we’re committed to connecting with these Jayhawks in their local communities.”
“Hawks & Highways is an excellent opportunity for alumni, friends and fans across this great state to learn firsthand from university leaders about our outstanding university,” Athletics Director Jeff Long said. “Partnering with the Alumni Association allows us to combine our resources in an effective manner to reach all those interested in the University of Kansas. We are excited to share the highlights of the state’s flagship university and are eager to visit cities around the state.”
KU football coach Les Miles is scheduled to attend the events in Dodge City, Independence, Salina and Wichita. Other university guests will be announced at a later date.
