Author, editor will discuss classics and misogyny in the digital age

LAWRENCE — The Emily Taylor Center for Women & Gender Equity is hosting its first-ever KU Masculinities Month Keynote Lecture this week.  Author Donna Zuckerberg will present “Not All Dead White Men: Classics and Misogyny in the Digital Age.”

The lecture will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Burge Union, Forum A. Zuckerberg will also take part in a Coffee @ The Commons event at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14.

Zuckerberg is a Silicon Valley-based, Princeton University-educated classicist and founding editor-in-chief of Eidolon, a prize-winning online classics magazine. Zuckerberg's lecture, based on her recent book of the same title, "Not All Dead White Men: Classics and Misogyny in the Digital Age" (Harvard University Press, 2018), will explore the ways that members of the online anti-feminist Red Pill community use and misuse ideas about ancient Greece and Rome to lend a veneer of intellectual authority and ancient wisdom to their project of patriarchal white supremacy.

Both events are free and open to the public.
