KU cadet team takes top-20 finish in national Army Ten-Miler

LAWRENCE — Eight cadets from the University of Kansas Army ROTC Jayhawk Battalion competed Oct. 7 in the Army Ten-Miler, the second-largest 10-mile race in the United States. The race is held annually in Arlington, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., with more than 35,000 participants.

The KU Army ROTC team placed 20th out of 96 total military academy and ROTC teams, improving on last year’s 23rd place finish. While in Washington, cadets visited the office of U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran and toured the U.S. Capitol, the White House and Arlington National Cemetery.

“It was an excellent opportunity to learn about our nation’s culture and history,” said sophomore Cadet Grady Petit. “Representing KU and the Army ROTC program in a positive manner is something to look forward to every year as well.”
