LAWRENCE — It’s “over and out” for “Right Between the Ears.” After more than 30 years of live shows, the award-winning sketch comedy series from Kansas Public Radio will present its last show at 8 p.m. Nov. 18 at Liberty Hall.

“After 32 years, it’s just time to bring down the curtain,” said show creator and producer Darrell Brogdon. “We’ve had an absolute blast doing the show all these years, but sometimes you have to make space so you can move on to other things.”

Originally known as “The Imagination Workshop,” the series began in 1985 with live broadcasts from the former Lawrence Arts Center site. In 1993 the show moved to Liberty Hall and was eventually re-christened “Right Between the Ears.”

Over the years, the show has been broadcast on National Public Radio, the BBC and Sirius-XM, as well as on Kansas Public Radio stations. “Right Between the Ears” is a four-time winner of the Gold Medal as Best Comedy Show at the New York Festivals, twice grabbing the Festival’s Grand Prize for Entertainment Programming.

For the series finale, show organizers will reprise some favorite bits from past shows along with plenty of new topical take-offs and satirical songs for the holiday season. Former cast members are flying in for the finale, according to Brogdon.

Tickets for “Right Between the Ears” are on sale now at Ticketmaster and the Liberty Hall box office.
