Poster winners announced in Student Service Showcase

LAWRENCE — The Center for Civic and Social Responsibility awarded four students $200 each for their winning entries in the Student Service Showcase at the 2017 Service Celebration.

The award winners were:

Graduate Student Service Project: Debby Adams, curriculum & instruction doctoral student, for her work with Catholic Charities teaching U.S. Citizenship to refugees

Undergraduate Individual Service Project: Eliza Hemmer, junior in psychology, for her work with Jayhawks DREAM tutoring residents of the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex

Undergraduate Group Service Project: Aly Lange, senior in Global and International Studies, and Daisy Crane, senior in visual art and humanities, for advocacy for ethical service through the MEDLIFE KU chapter

“The Service Celebration is always one of my favorite things that we do,” said John Augusto, director of the Center for Civic and Social Responsibility. “Not only do we get to show the Lawrence community what service opportunities KU students have been able to take part in through our poster showcase, but we also get to say a big ‘thank you’ to the community partners for constantly connecting with faculty and students to create long-lasting relationships.”
