Recognition event planned for community partners, faculty, students

LAWRENCE — The Center for Civic & Social Responsibility (CCSR) is hosting the 2017 Service Celebration to recognize the many community organizations in Lawrence and Douglas County that partner with KU faculty and students. The reception, set for 5-6 p.m. April 28, will bring together faculty, students and community partners to recognize the multiple community organizations and agencies whose collaboration with KU is critical to making service learning and volunteer opportunities possible.

“The work that we do here at KU would be impossible without the persistent involvement from community partners and faculty,” said John Augusto, director of CCSR. “Our faculty and instructors partner with the leaders in local nonprofit organizations to create a high-quality learning experience that provides benefit to the community organization as well as our students.”

Any local or regional community organization that has hosted KU service learning students or volunteers is invited to attend. Please RSVP online.

Also as part of the Service Celebration, the CCSR is hosting a Student Poster Showcase to highlight the service projects underway at KU.

The Service Celebration and viewing of the Student Poster Showcase, highlighting the service projects underway at KU, are open to the public, with RSVP requested. More information and an RSVP link can be found online
