Audio-Reader Network announces new development director

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas Audio-Reader Network, a reading and information service for the blind and print-disabled, will have a new development director effective June 8. Feloniz Lovato-Winston will step into the position, currently held by Brenda Berg Dyck, who will leave Audio-Reader in early June.

The development director is responsible for coordinating all fundraising activities for Audio-Reader, including direct mail campaigns, special events, grant proposals, donor stewardship and planned giving. In her new role, Lovato-Winston will work closely with Executive Director Janet Campbell and the Audio-Reader Development Committee to maintain and enhance a diverse funding base to support the mission and goals of the organization.

Lovato-Winston graduated from KU in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in English and creative writing. She has worked at KU since 2005, holding positions in both the Dean’s Office and the communications department at the School of Business before accepting the development assistant position at Audio-Reader in 2010. For the past several years, she has organized Audio-Reader’s annual benefit sale, For Your Ears Only, and has assisted with other development initiatives at Audio-Reader.

The Kansas Audio-Reader Network exists to provide print-disabled citizens with access to the printed word and other information via closed-circuit radio and telephone reader broadcasts, internet, special request and audio-description of live theater. Services are provided free of charge to enable print-disabled persons the opportunity to live their lives with the greatest possible personal independence.
