Med Center faculty selected for Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award


LAWRENCE — Three faculty members at the University of Kansas Medical Center have been selected to receive the 2013 Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award, which recognizes outstanding classroom teaching. Winners are selected by a committee of faculty and students.

This year’s winners:

Kathleen Davis, assistant professor of pediatrics, who specializes in teaching health care professionals about the educational and psychosocial needs of children with chronic and frequently life-threatening illnesses.

Diane Ebbert, assistant professor of family medicine and assistant professor of nursing, who sees patients in a collaborative clinic that is a model for family medicine residents and medical students, while also teaching multiple courses in the School of Nursing.

Edward Ellerbeck, professor of preventive medicine and public health, who developed and leads the KU Medical School’s required Health of the Public course while chairing the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health.

The award includes a one-time stipend of $1,000. Winners will be recognized at the Annual Teaching Summit, which will be Thursday, Aug. 22, in Budig Hall.
