Candidates for vice provost and dean of undergraduate studies to meet with KU colleagues
LAWRENCE — Four outstanding University of Kansas faculty members have been selected as finalists for vice provost and dean of undergraduate studies. Next week, each candidate will host a presentation and take questions from his and her colleagues regarding this newly created leadership position.
The four candidates and the time and location of their campus forum are listed below.
- Monday, June 17, 12:30 p.m.-1:30 pm, Malott Room, Kansas Union: Ann Cudd, associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and University Distinguished Professor of Philosophy
- Tuesday, June 18, noon-1 p.m., Malott Room, Kansas Union: Chris Haufler, professor and chair, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and special assistant to the provost
- Wednesday, June 19, 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., Malott Room, Kansas Union: Amy Devitt, professor of English, Frances L. Stiefel Teaching Professor and Chancellors Club Teaching Professor
- Thursday, June 20, 1 p.m.-2 p.m., Centennial Room, Kansas Union: Paul Atchley, professor, assistant chair and chair for undergraduate studies, Department of Psychology

The establishment of a vice provost and dean for undergraduate studies is the result of goal one of Bold Aspirations, the university’s five-year strategic plan. During the past two years the university has reorganized units in academic affairs and student success to align more directly with the strategic plan, putting in place offices that emphasize the first-year experience, experiential learning, and academic support services. The vice provost and dean for undergraduate studies will provide leadership for these initiatives as well as guide the KU Core curriculum.
