KU start-up company announces partnership with Midwest Cancer Alliance

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – A University of Kansas start-up company has announced a partnership with the Midwest Cancer Alliance.

Cancer Survivorship Training Inc., a KU start-up company that provides e-learning tools for healthcare professionals, will provide online education and training to the Midwest Cancer Alliance, a network of 18 hospitals, physicians groups and cancer support and patient advocacy organizations across Kansas and western Missouri.

“CST provides a variety of educational curriculum and resources dedicated to the issues surrounding cancer survivorship,” said Dr. Jennifer Klemp, CST founder and CEO and a researcher in the KU departments of internal medicine, nursing and psychology. “This partnership will empower providers across the region with the knowledge and tools to care for cancer survivors.”

Klemp launched CST in 2011, making it the 23rd active KU start-up company.

“The MCA is committed to helping our member organizations stay up-to-date with today’s evolving cancer care concerns and new treatment developments,” said Hope Krebill, executive director of MCA. “We’re excited to make CST’s online training tools available to our members so they can continue providing quality, compassionate care.”

CST delivers nationally accredited online continuing education courses and an online community for healthcare professionals. CST’s goal is to provide e-learning solutions and resources that increase users’ knowledge and understanding of cancer survivorship care in order to improve outcomes and lower health-related costs. MCA is a membership-based organization that works to improve cancer care across Kansas by providing access to the latest advancements close to home.
