KU to conduct emergency management training exercise

LAWRENCE — The KU Public Safety Office will conduct an emergency management training exercise May 23 at Corbin Hall, 420 W. 11th St. The exercise will begin at 10 a.m. and run approximately four hours.

Annual exercises are conducted to assess and improve the overall readiness and capabilities of emergency response by testing emergency plans and procedures to reveal strengths and weaknesses, demonstrate operational capabilities and to prepare personnel for real events.

Some of the property and streets surrounding Corbin Hall may be blocked off during the exercise, including the 1000 block of Ohio Street.

The training exercise will involve approximately 70 total participants. Agencies participating in the training exercise include the KU Public Safety Office, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, City of Lawrence Police Department, City of Eudora Police Department, Baldwin City Police Department, Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical and the KU Office of Public Affairs.
