LAWRENCE – The University of Kansas School of Business will partner with the Deloitte Foundation to host the 21st biennial Auditing Symposium from April 26 to April 28 at the Oread.

This year’s theme is “The Impact of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) on the Conduct of the Audit.” The PCAOB was established by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, which required that auditors of U.S. public companies be subject to external and independent oversight for the first time in history. Previously, the profession was self-regulated.

Featured presenters include Brian Croteau, deputy chief accountant for the Securities and Exchange Commission; Dan Goelzer, former PCAOB board member; Bob Kueppers, deputy CEO of Deloitte; and Bob Moritz, CEO of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

“The creation of the PCAOB in 2002 was a landmark event for auditors and accountants,” said John Sweeney, professor of accounting and director of the Department of Accounting & Information Systems in the School of Business. “This symposium enables us to bring some of the nation’s top business and academic leaders to Lawrence to discuss this important topic.”

The symposium agenda is available online. Media are invited to attend.
